Practicing Music therapy – A global Perspective

Practicing Music therapy- A global perspective is a three-day international online webinar. The program was organized by the Center for Music therapy education & research, SBV from 21st of July to 23rd of July.

The webinar started with Honorable Vice-Chancellor, Prof.  S C Parija’s talk on creating awareness of music therapy.

The sessions were conducted by Experienced music therapists with more than 20 years of experience in the field of music therapy from Australia by Prof Katrina Mcferran, university of Melbourne, Australia; and Prof. Indra Selvarajah, Universiti Pelita Malaysia(UPM). The sessions also showcased music therapists from Southeast Asia who has been practicing MT for the last 5 to 8 years. The webinar also showcased the experiences of an intern.  Vikram Kannan, Chennai, Stephen Philip(A Srilankan) practicing in the Himalayas, Calsey SHroeder from South Aftica, Puchong chimpiboon from Thailand, Jessica Hariwijaya from Indonesia, and Sahitya Rajagopal from Delhi, India.

The webinar was attended by 98% external participants and 2 percent internal participants. They are from India, Australia, Malaysia, South Africa, Indonesia, Thailand, Bangladesh. The overall feedback was positive with the participants requesting to have more such webinars. The Faculty of CMTER has been asked to collaborate with many projects from Australia, Srilanka, Berklee College, Malaysia. The objective of the program shows that it has been positive with the above outcomes. Creating awareness about music therapy, education, training, and practice at CMTER, SBV as well as in Southeast Asia.
