Role of Music Therapy in Stress Management

Center for Music Therapy Education and Research(CMTER), Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth, Pondicherry, conducted an International Workshop in  Music therapy on 21-07-2019(Sunday) titled “Role of Music Therapy in Stress Management” as part of the International Health Research Convention 2019, conceived by our Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Subhash Chandra Parija and organized by Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth, Pondicherry. between 19-21st July 2019

The International Workshop was organized by the Director of CMTER, Prof. Sumathy Sundar, the organizing chairman.

The conference consisted of eminent resource persons with years of academic knowledge, research and experience from both international and national levels.   The event had the presence of International speakers of Prof Gerhard Tucek, Director, from IMC Krems University of Applied Sciences, Krems, Austria. Dr. Carol Lotter, University of Pretoria, South Africa.

At the national level the workshop had the presence of clinicians Dr, Parin Parmar, Pediatric Allergist & Dr. Tarun Kumar Patel, A senior Surgeon and Retina consultant as well as psychologists Dr. Baishali Mukherjee from CSMT.

The experiential sessions were conducted by Vikram Kannan, a Music therapist from Chennai, Dr. Anasuya Ravikanti, a Music therapist from Hyderabad, Stephen Philip music therapist from Uttarakashi and Bhuvaneswari Ramesh, tutor and Ph.D. research scholar from Pondicherry.

The conference was well received by the registered participants who were left asking for more.   The delegates were a mixed group of music students, music therapy students, psychologists, Scientists, Doctors arriving from a varied number of cities and countries as Chennai, Bangalore, Kerala, Mumbai, Delhi, Bengal, Ahmedabad, South Africa, UK, China, and Hongkong.

The feedback received was positive with the interest to attend more of such events and adding varied topics we could use for the future.
