Shri Sathya Sai College of Nursing Observes National Deworming Day

On February 10, 2025, Shri Sathya Sai College of Nursing in Chennai observed National Deworming Day, a significant initiative by the Government of India aimed at deworming children aged 1 to 19 years. This initiative aims to reduce the burden of soil-transmitted helminths, intestinal parasites that affect millions of children, leading to malnutrition, anemia, and impaired cognitive development. The event commenced with delivering an insightful talk by Dr.Prema Sekar.K, Principal, SSSCON on the importance of deworming. She emphasized that deworming is crucial for improving children’s health, nutritional status, and overall well-being. Madam has highlighted that soil-transmitted helminths (STH) affect millions of children, leading to malnutrition, anemia, and impaired cognitive development. She urged students to actively participate in deworming programs to ensure a healthier future for children. Following the address, Assistant Professor Mrs. Madhurima.D led the students in reciting a pledge, reinforcing their commitment to promoting health and well-being. The pledge underscored the collective responsibility of healthcare professionals in combating worm infestations and enhancing public health. Later students were distributed with the Deworming tablets and ensured their swallowing of the tablets.
