Unveiling the Commemorative Plaque of Prof. Aaron Antonovsky

A plaque was unveiled in commemoration of the 99th birthday and upcoming Centenary Year (1923-2023) by Prof. Aaron Antonovsky, known worldwide as the “Father of Salutogenesis” on 19 December 2022  at the Institute of Salutogenesis and Complementary Medicine, Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth (SBV), Puducherry. SBV has announced the Centenary year as the YEAR OF SALUTOGENESIS in honour of Prof Antonovsky.
The highlight of the event was the virtual presence of Dr Avishai Antonovsky, the illustrious son and successor of Prof. Aaron Antonovsky from Israel.
During this occasion, a special commemorative plaque was unveiled by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof SC Parija in the presence of the eminent dignitaries who were present.
The program started on a divine note with an invocation and Welcome address by Dr Ananda Balayogi Bhavanani, Director of ISCM who greeted everyone including Dr Avishai Antonovsky and the other participants who had joined online.
Following this Prof N Ananthakrishnan, Dean of Faculty, SBV briefed about the Establishment and future plans of ISCM as he had been instrumental along with the previous VC Prof R Sethuraman in promoting Salutogenesis, not just as a concept but practically including it throughout SBV, especially amongst all the streams of students of SBV.
Then the much-awaited Special address was given by Dr Avishai Antonovsky the illustrious son of Prof. Antonovsky who is currently working in the Mental Fitness Branch, Department of Health and Well-Being, Medical Corps, Israel Defense Forces, Israel. He expressed his joy that his father’s work is being promoted at SBV and also mentioned feeling honoured to be a part of this program. The Commemorative Address was given by Prof SC Parija, Vice Chancellor of SBV who appreciated the efforts of his predecessor Prof Sethuraman and Prof Ananthakrishnan in manifesting Salutogenesis and getting it functional in various departments at SBV. The program ended on a happy note with the Vote of Thanks given by Dr Meena Ramanathan, Deputy Director, School of Yoga Therapy.
