Value Added Course On Palliative Care

Palliative care in today’s world is an evolving concept encompassing the continuum of illnesses with focus on optimization of quality of life for both the patients with life limiting diseases and their families. Keeping in  view the significant role of palliative care in alleviating the suffering of terminally ill patients, Shri Sathya Sai College of Nursing organized the value-added course on palliative care  with 10 SBV Credit Points. The main aim of conducting this value added course is to impart the significant needed knowledge about palliative care to the budding health care professionals. The program was held on 24th & 25th February 2022 in Lecture Hall-IV, III floor, College Block of SSSMCRI. Secessions were held on both days covering various topics of palliative care like, overview of palliative care, pain management, symptomatic management, nursing issues, communication skills, yoga in palliative care, ethical decision making, management of palliative care emergencies, palliative care in geriatric population, spiritual issues, end of life care. A total of 62 delegates participated in the value added course from various fields like Nursing, Medical, and Allied Health Sciences. From MBBS there were 9 Students, Form AHS there were 12 students who participated, and from nursing there were 41 students who participated. Value Added Course Certificates were issued to the delegates. The participants gave a feedback that the sessions were useful for their learning and practice.
