World Blood Cancer Awareness Month was commemorated at Shri Sathya Sai College of Nursing on 09th September 2021. A Virtual CNE was organized on the Theme “A New Way To Beat Blood Cancer” held on Zoom Platform from the MEU Hall, Shri Sathya Sai Medical College and Research Institute. The program started at 10 am and ended at 1:30 pm.
The program was compered by Mr.Dinesh M, Nursing Tutor, SSSCON. After a warm welcome address given by Mr.Snowden, Assistant Professor, SSSCON. Dr.Helen Shaji J.C., Principal, Shri Sathya Sai College of Nursing presented the first session on “Myths and Facts about Blood Cancer”. Dr.Dost Mohamed Khan, HOD, Dept of Pathology was the Guest Speaker, he presented “Challenges Facing India In Terms of Diagnosis and Treatment: A New Way to Beat Blood Cancer”. Prof.A.L. Mahalakshmi, Vice Principal, SSSCON presented on Early Detection and Management of Blood Cancer. Prof. R.Golda Sahaya Rani, MSN Dept, SSSCON, presented the final session on “Nursing Management of the client with Blood Cancer.” The vote of thanks was proposed by Mrs.Sharmila, Nursing Tutor, SSSCON followed by which an Elocution Competition was held on the Topic: “Fight Against Blood Cancer” for which Dr.Chandana, Associate Professor, Dept of Pathology, SSSMCRI and Dr.Sujatha T., Professor, Dept of Community Health Nursing, SSSCON were the judges. A total of 476 delegates participated in the CNE from over 25 different colleges and nursing institutes and 32 students participated in the Elocution Competition. In BSc Nursing category Ms.Adila Biju, SSSCON won first place and Ms.Gracy John KGNC won second place. In MSc Nursing category, Ms.Ruppamercy won first place and Mr.Sasikumar won second place from Dr.M.G.R Educational and research institute.
