In commemoration of World Blood donor day, webinar, quiz and slogan writing competition were conducted on June 14th, 2021 from 11.00 am to 1.00 pm, organized by the Department of Pathology, MGMCRI, SBV, Puducherry. There were 300 participants including faculties, postgraduates and AHS students. The first session was guest lecture by Dr. Arumugam, Professor, HOD, Department of Transfusion Medicine, Tamilnadu Dr. MGR university, Chennai. He spoke about various challenges faced by blood bank during COVID 19 pandemic and discussed various mitigation strategies followed to overcome blood requirements during pandemic crisis. The talk was followed by Quiz and slogan competition for AHS students of MGMCRI. Feedback forms were obtained from the participants through Google forms. This two hour webinar was taken as an opportunity to raise awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products and also to thank indispensable contribution by voluntary blood donors even during pandemic crisis.
