 On 5th September 2024, the Institute Day and the Teachers Day was commemorated at the Institute of Health Professions Education. A workshop on Educational Research was conducted in association with Deanery Research, for the faculty of SBV from Medical, Dental, Nursing, Pharmacy, and Physiotherapy disciplines. Prof. K.R. Sethuraman, Prof. K.A. Narayan, Prof. M. Shivasakthy, and Prof. Ezhumalai served as resource persons. The participants did preworkshop assignment identifying a research problem in the educational setting and drafting a study design for the same.
The workshop sessions included Why research in academics? The importance of Discipline Based Educational Research (DBER), Study design & Spectrum of educational research, Study design plenary by participants on pre-identified lacuna in the present educational setting in their respective discipline, Do ’s and Don’ts in questionnaire – General principles, and Introduction to descriptive and analytical statistical tools for educational research.
