World Heart Day was commemorated by Shri Sathya Sai College of Nursing and an Awareness Program was organized at Semmanchery Urban Primary Health Center in the multipurpose hall of the Urban Primary Health Center on 29.09.2021. The Theme of this World Heart Day is “Use Heart To Connect”. The aim of the program was to create awareness among the public about the prevention and management of heart disease. The program was organized by Dr.Helen Shaji J.C. Principal Shri Sathya Sai College of Nursing, the event was coordinated by Mr.Snowden, Assistant Professor, and Mr.Dinesh M, Nursing Tutor. The program started at 11.30 am with a Heath talk that was given by Ms.Priya, Ms.Thilagavathy, Ms.Kalyani, Ms.Bhavani, Ms.Emmimal, and Ms.Kaviya from II year BSc (Nursing), Shri Sathya Sai College Of Nursing, each explaining the various aspects of Healthy Practices on maintaining healthy heart, stress, hypertension and diabetes mellitus, cigarette, alcohol, and obesity. Mr.Dinesh M, Nursing Tutor, summarized the health talk and highlighted the diabetic and hypertensive diet. He also gave various tips on overcoming smoking and alcohol addiction. Followed by the health talk there was a Food Exhibition organized in the same venue by II-year BSc (Nursing) students. Heart-Healthy Foods were prepared and exhibited. The preparation and uses were explained to the patient, and the patient’s questions were answered. The food on exhibition was provided to the patients to taste, about 50 patients attended the heath talk and exhibition, and the program ended at 12.30 pm.
