WORLD LEPROSY DAY – 27/01/2022

World Leprosy Day was commemorated at Shri Sathya Sai College of Nursing on 27th January 2022. A Guest Lecture was organized for the nursing students to create an awareness about Leprosy, to educate about the disease and to sensitize the students regarding the stigma surrounding it. The program was held in the Lecture hall IV, 3rd Floor, of Shri Sathya Sai College Of Nursing. The program started at 09:30 am and was compered by Mr.Snowden, Assistant Professor, SSSCON. The program began with a warm welcome address given by Prof.Mrs.A.L.Mahalakshmi, Vice Principal, SSSCON. Mr.Snowden, Assistant Professor, SSSCON, presented about the Importance of World Leprosy Day and Unfolded the theme of this year’s World Leprosy Day, which was “United for Digity”. Dr.Sowmya Naga Dogiparthi, Associate Professor,  Dept of Dermatology, Venerology and Leprology, Shri Sathya Sai Medical College And Research Institute, was the Guest Lecturer for the day, she presented on the title “Medical And Social Implications of Leprosy – Current Advancements”. Followed by this Dr.Helen Shaji J.C., Principal, Shri Sathya Sai College of Nursing gave a keynote address, she also asked questions to the students from the session, to which the students readily responded. This showed that the students had learned much about leprosy and the guest lecture was a productive one. About 140 students attended the program. Dr.Golda Sahaya Rani, Professor, SSSCON proposed the vote of thanks and the program concluded by 11:00 am.
