World Prosthodontist Day Celebration

World Prosthodontist Day is celebrated all over the world to celebrate the contribution of the fraternity of Prosthodontics- a specialty that deals with the rehabilitation of teeth. In commemoration of World Prosthodontics Day which is held every year on the 22nd January, the Department of Prosthodontics and Crown & Bridge, Indira Gandhi Institute of Dental Sciences, Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth planned a list of events to celebrate it this year. Permission to organize the event was obtained from the Principal, IGIDS. The celebration at Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth had various events lined up for the benefit of students.
Project Pallandu- a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed with Old Age Homes (Sharon Society and Arichvady) through the rotary club of Puducherry Aurocity was initiated by the Department of Prosthodontics, IGIDS to serve and cater to the treatment needs of the people residing in old age homes.
The purpose of the event is to instill the spirit of this specialty through various competitions which could demonstrate their artistic ability. With the central theme, “God Create. We Recreate”, the students demonstrated their talents by active participation in educational programs and events such as Free Denture camp, Pro Quiz, Flash Mob, Prostho Anthem, Instagram Reels, Design Your Tee, Carve And Create, were planned and organized from 21st Jan 2021 to 31st Jan 2021. Students from all the years from IGIDS as well as other dental schools showed interest and participated. All events were planned with adequate precautions against any kind of disease spread.
