Preamble
WE@SBV, the Women Cell constituted at Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth (SBV) has helped to maintain a harmonious atmosphere, to enable women to pursue their work with diligence, dignity, conviction, and renewed assurance.
One of the mandates of the Women’s cell is to thwart gender discrimination and inappropriate sexual conduct which is best achieved through promoting gender sensitivity programmes to all students, teaching, and non-teaching staff working at Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth.
WE@SBV, endeavors to create a sustainable equal-opportunity environment conducive to the holistic development of women members of the campus, academically, professionally, personally, and emotionally. The Women’s Cell constantly strives hard and is committed to making the campus environment safe for women – devoid of exploitation, harassment, and violence of any nature.
The Women’s Cell has been working ceaselessly to raise awareness on Transgender equality issues too. Ours is one of the few higher educational institutions which have provided equal employment opportunities to transgenders in the cadre of Doctors, Supervisors, and Nursing, etc.
Out of the various proactive steps that we have undertaken, mention must be made of the following:-
- Establish and sustain a clear-cut, zero-tolerance, anti-harassment policy.
- Institute training and awareness programs for employees.
- Create specialized training for managers and supervisors.
- Ensure that everyone understands the process for reporting a complaint.
Thus, we nurture the culture where the aspirations and needs of women and men are equally valued and favored. The women’s Cell functions as an effective forum that looks into and recommends action on all acts of harassment against any individual and co-ordinates the activities to empower women, thereby fostering gender parity.
