INTERNAL QUALITY ASSURANCE CELL

Purpose :
The purpose of this Standard Operating Protocol (SOP) is to outline the structure, functions, mechanism, and activities of Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) at Kasturba Gandhi Nursing College.

Scope :
This SOP applies to the chairperson, members, and secretary of the IQAC composition, which shall be constituted as per the mandate of UGC and NAAC.

Structure of the Composition as per NAAC:

  • Chairperson: Head of the Institution
  • Institutional Co ordinator
  • Member Secretary
  • Members from teachers to represent all level (Three to eight)
  • Alumni Member
  • Student Member

Responsibility :

  • Chairperson shall be responsible for the overall supervision of activities of IQAC and the ultimate authority of the approval and deployment of the quality initiatives.
  • The Institutional coordinators shall be responsible for closely guiding and supervising the departments in implementation and follow-up of the strategic plans; assist their Principals related to IQAC; they shall also bridge the departments/ the institutions with the core team of IQAC.
  • The IQAC Member Secretary shall be responsible for ensuring active participation of all members in meetings/ deliberations, for coordinating activities of IQAC, for ensuring adherence of IQAC functioning as per SOP, and for preparation of Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR) along with the Institutional coordinator.
  • The Teacher members assume responsibilities as follows:
    • Shall be responsible for proposing goals, strategies and for developing realistic and attainable quality benchmarks for each of the academic and administrative activities of IQAC.
    • Shall be responsible to ensure effective deployment, monitoring and follow-up of the IQAC quality initiatives in their respective institutions.
  • The Student members are responsible for communicating the student & needs, wants and preferences during their educational experience in the campus and propose initiatives that will enhance their experience.
  • The Alumni members are responsible for communicating their perspectives from the real- world expectation from a health profession graduate and propose measures to promote the career growth of graduates within and beyond campus life.

Functions of IQAC :

  1. Develop a system for quality achievement, enhancement, and sustenance through periodic review.
  2. To promote internalization of quality culture and institutionalization of best practices.
  3. Development and collection of the Annual Strategic Perspective Plan and Academic Calendar of the Institution.
  4. Facilitating the creation of a learner-centric environment conducive by introducing quality reforms in teaching and learning processes
  5. Facilitating faculty maturation towards knowledge and technology for participatory teaching and learning process, by conducting faculty development programs and professional development programs.
  6. Collection and analysis of feedback from all stakeholders on curriculum, syllabus and other quality- related institutional processes; analyze them and ensure follow-up actions; Action taken reports to be submitted to the Board of Management.
  7. Periodically Performing students &  satisfaction survey.
  8. Generation and promotion of awareness on quality parameters as well as to disseminate information to all stakeholders.
  9. Organization of inter and intra institutional workshops, seminars on quality related themes and promotion of quality circles.
  10. Development and maintenance of institutional database in electronic format
  11. Periodical conduct of Academic and Administrative Audit every quarter in an academic year and annual external audit.
  12. Preparation and submission of the Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR) as per guidelines and parameters of NAAC and submit to the Board of Management for approval.

Meetings of IQAC :
The IQAC-KGNC meetings shall be convened minimum at 3 months &  interval with the IQAC team.
