The department provides comprehensive undergraduate and post-graduate teaching programs as per MCI norm. 

Postgraduate Training

PGs are trained to develop basic teaching skills and be competent enough to work as a junior-level teacher in educational institutes. Apart from adequate clinical exposure and surgical training, the method of teaching for postgraduates include seminars, journal clubs, case presentations, group discussions and faculty classes. Postgraduate students are encouraged to take part in conferences, CME and workshops and are encouraged to present scientific papers. The pass percentage of postgraduates for the past five years is around 80%.

Undergraduate Training

Undergraduate training includes lectures, Clinical case discussions, demonstrations, simulation-based teaching. Apart from this, they are encouraged to participate in small group teaching, integrated teaching and problem-based learning. Clinical teaching is conducted in the outpatient department and inpatient ward. The pass percentage of undergraduates for the past five years is around 80%.

At MGMCRI the clinical post-graduate training in MS Ophthalmology is intended to develop the resident with a blend of qualities of a clinical specialist, a teacher and a researcher. Residents are taught to offer the community, gold standard care in ophthalmic diagnosis as well as therapeutics, medical or surgical, in most of the common situations encountered at the level of health services.
