Post Graduate Diploma in Music Therapy

CMTER developed the first university-based one year Post Graduate Diploma in Music Therapy in the year 2014. The programme with 30 credits trains the aspiring music therapists to begin their entry-level clinical practice by honing their clinical and music therapy skills and enhance their personality in physical, psychological and spiritual dimensions. The programme details on music therapy foundations, clinical and psychological foundations, interdisciplinary understanding and applications of music therapy and assessments and documentation of music therapy process. The content delivery uses a unique combination of self-directed learning and faculty-led discussions/seminars using audio and video equipments, workshops, and CMEs.  The highlight of the programme is that it is a competency-based programme and adoption of a credit system as recommended by the NAAC and UGC. Students after completion of PGDMT have the option to enter as a lateral entry into the 2nd year of the Master’s degree programme in Medical Music Therapy

Master’s Degree in Medical Music Therapy

The Master’s degree programme in Medical Music Therapy is the first graduate programme in music therapy with a hallmark of adoption of choice based credit system (CBCS) recommended as the major reform in higher education by UGC and NAAC.  The programme with 58 credits offer different electives to the students 1) Pain management 2)Procedural Support 3) Mind-Body Medicine 4) Brain Biomarkers and psychiatric Rehabilitation 5) Community Health 6) Neurological Rehabilitation 7) Children with Special needs 8) Pediatric Applications. Students gain theoretical knowledge and skills underlying the research process and develop the ability to apply these in doing a research project.

Doctoral Degree Programme in Music Therapy

SBV, through CMTER promotes research and developmental activities in Allied Health Sciences with specific emphasis on music therapy. The university recruits Ph.D. candidates from Sep. 2017 to work at CMTER. SBV also has entered into an MOU with IMC University of Applied Sciences, Krems, Austria for a collaborative Ph.D. programme on 24 11 2016. Through this MOU, the faculty and the Master’s degree students of IMC Krems also can register for the collaborative doctoral degree programme.
