MOKSHA – AN OVERVIEW
- Body Donation is the donation of the whole body after death for the purpose of medical research and education. Body Donation is important for helping medical students and researchers to understand human body. Any person willing to donate their body can make prior arrangements with our MOKSHA Committee.
- Body donation is governed by the Anatomy Act, which is “An Act to provide for the supply of unclaimed bodies of deceased persons (or donated bodies or any part thereof of deceased persons) to hospitals and medical and teaching institutions for the purpose of anatomical examination and dissection and other similar activities.
- Dead human bodies are called as Cadavers used to teach about Anatomy to the students, the structure of the body and how it works. Individuals may request a consent form from our institution or MOKSHA committee, who will then give information about policies and procedures followed after the potential donor, is deceased.
