ABOUT THE COURSE
B. Sc. in Respiratory Therapy is an Undergraduate Program offered by MGMCRI under Faculty of AHS. This course focus on producing a trained respiratory therapist who will be assisting the physicians in the assessment and treatment of patients with both acute and chronic dysfunction of the cardiopulmonary system. Today’s respiratory therapists serve as a vital member of the health care team. A vast level of employment opportunity is open for the respiratory therapist in the healthcare industry. On completion of this course, one can be part of critical care teams, Intensive care units, Anesthesiology and Pulmonary medicine departments of Hospitals. They may also be employed in non-hospital environments like wellness centres, home care settings, helping patients and their families to use assistive breathing devices, sleep disorder centres naming just a few.
Following the UGC guidelines, as an innovation, the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences AHS from the year 2019-20, all Undergraduate courses have been designed with the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS), wherein the students, depending upon their interests and aims, can choose interdisciplinary, intra-disciplinary and skill-based courses. The choice-based credit system not only offers opportunities and avenues to learn core subjects but also exploring additional avenues of learning beyond the core subjects for the holistic development of an individual. The CBCS curriculum thus provides an opportunity for the students to choose courses from the prescribed courses comprising a core, elective/minor or skill-based courses. The CBCS will undoubtedly groom the students with the best international academic practices.

Eligibility
Candidates who have passed in Higher Secondary Examination are eligible to apply for this course.
Relaxation
A relaxation of 5% in the required aggregate in Higher Secondary Examinations for this course will be given to OBC/SC/ST Candidates.
