State – of – the – Art Departmental Museum
Objectives
- To impart up – to – date knowledge about the subject to the Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG) students.
- Guide to different research activities.
Context
- The department has a state – of – the – art museum that caters to the academic requirements of Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG) students of Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute.
The Practice
- The museum is located in the 2nd floor of the college building. Floor area of the museum is 230sq.m.
- The different specimens exhibited are
- Wet specimens of Medico-Legal importance preserved in acrylic jars
- Weapons of Medico-Legal significance including firearms
- Latest autopsy instruments, laminated charts, models, laminated photographs,
- Poisons – plant, animal poisons and chemical toxins
- Bones, slides of trace evidences e.g. hair, semen, blood etc
- Radiographs of Medico-Legal significance with unique findings
- The museum is designed to give the best teaching atmosphere to the students.
- All specimens are adequately labeled so that the students can freely come and check the specimens themselves at their convenient time.Â
- Catalogue of the specimens are kept in the museum.
- The museum remains open during college hours.
Evidence of Success
- Concepts about the subject have become clearer to the students and helps in better understanding
- We have been able to provide valuable guidance to other faculty members in case of any doubt regarding court summons and proceedings.
- Resources used: Room of 230 sq.m, wet specimens, weapons, charts, models, photographs, poisons, bones, slides, Electricity, water and Furniture.
