ICMR-DHR SPONSORED TRAINING PROGRAM ON MODERN BIOLOGY IN HEALTH RESEARCH

     The 1st phase of Department of Health Research, Govt of India, sponsored training on Modern Biology in Health Research (Modules: AI & Clinical Bioinformatics and Molecular Biology Techniques) was organized by MGM-Advanced Research Institute, SBV during 14th December 2023 till 23rd December 2023.
     Through wide advertisement the training program had attracted around 500 applicants nationwide. Among the aspiring medical doctors and researchers who had applied, 118 participants (online & offline) were selected for AI & Clinical Bioinformatics and 20 participants were selected for Molecular Biology Techniques from medical, science and pharmacy background by a committee framed for this purpose. The training had an equal blend of scientific lectures and hands-on session in various areas includes clinical bioinformatics, immunology, and molecular biology assays.
     The training was given by experts from local, national and international levels such as Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, Brian X AI, USA, National Research Council of Italy, Siddhaganga Institute of Technology, Karnataka, Sciomics, Ooty, Yenepoya Research Centre, Mangalore, Christian Medical College, Vellore, Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences, Puducherry, MGMCRI and MGMARI. In a nutshell the training module had 14 technical sessions, 11 hands on sessions, 2 demo sessions with an exclusive session on presenting research ideas.

Module 1: Dynamics of Clinical/Medical Research

  • Bio-surveillance.

Module 2: Cell Culture Techniques

  • Cell Culture Methods.
  • si-RNA transfection & assessment of si-RNA induced gene silencing.
  • Wound Healing &TEER Assay.
  • Immunofluorescence analysis.
  • Cell Cycle analysis by Flow Cytometry.
  • ImageJ analysis.

  • Selected participants need to confirm their participation by 30th December 2023.
  • Accommodation for outstation candidate upon request (based on the availability for cell culture module only)
  • Food & transport is excluded.
  • Fully refundable INR 2000 as caution money.
  • Interested candidates can apply for either of the modules or both the modules.
