Prof. M. Shivasakthy, a Prosthodontist, is qualified in the field of education with a postgraduate diploma and a Ph.D. in health professions education. She completed her BDS as the best outgoing student and MDS Prosthodontics from RMDCH, Annamalai University, PGDHPE, and PhD from Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth. She was endowed “Shri Gurucharan Das Endowment Medal” for Best Ph.D. Scholar. She has completed several additional certificate programs by International/ National organizations, including an Advanced Certificate in Leadership & Management from the London School of Business Administration, UK; an Interprofessional Collaboration Facilitator Development program from Indiana University, USA; and an NEP implementation program from IGNOU. Her contribution towards the identification and support of Students Needing Additional Curricular Support is awarded and recognized internationally in the field of education.
She is a Member of the Faculty of Dentistry of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons (MFDS RCPSG), Glasgow, a member of the Association of Medical Education in Europe (AMEE), American Dental Education Association (ADEA), Association for the Study of Medical Education (ASME, UK) and a member of National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS), Govt. of India. She is the recipient of the “Best Teacher Award 2020”, “Eminent Teacher Award 2020” and “Best Researcher Award 2022” in recognition of her valuable contribution to the academic community and the students. She is a key contributor towards the conversion of all non-regulatory programs of Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth to adapt to the Choice Based Credit System.She has six granted patents, three published patents, and thirty-four copyrights granted to her credit. She has over 75 publications and has contributed to five training manuals on palliative care for Medical officers, Staff Nurse, ASHA, Community health workers, and Multipurpose workers at Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Centres for NHSRC, Ministry of Health, Govt. of India and contributed for two Competency Based Training manual for “in-service pharmacists” and “lab technologists” of primary health care to Govt. of Odisha along with Health systems Transformation Platform. She is a member of the board of studies for several programs and a member of the academic council at Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth. She also guides masters, MHPE, and Ph.D. candidates. She has been a resource person for over 120 invited lectures and workshops at the International and National levels for medical, dental, and allied health academicians. Her key areas of expertise & consultancy include Health Professions Education, National Education Policy, Choice Based Credit System, Intellectual Property Rights, Prosthodontics, and Palliative Care.
