Prof. M. Ravishankar is one of the eminent anaesthesiologists of our country and currently the Director E-Learning at SBV. Prior to this appointment, Prof. Ravishankar held the post of Dean , Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute (MGMCRI), a constituent college of Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth. During his tenure as the Dean, MGMCRI , the institute acquired the coveted status of figuring among the top 25 medical colleges of our country, as per India rankings provided by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF).
Also, during his tenure as the Dean, MGMCRI ,the Medical Simulation Centre at MGMCRI got the approbation of American Heart association(AHA) and has been recognized as an International Training Centre of American Heart Association.
Prof.Ravishankar has several honours and recognitions to his credit that include his contributions towards the establishment of state- of- the- art Department of Anaesthesiology and Critical Care Unit at JIPMER, Puducherry, an institute of national importance. Dr.Ravishankar, a former member of Bureau of Indian standards (BIS) for formulating specifications for anaesthesia equipment is the recipient of the prestigious Lifetime Achievement award for progress of anaesthesia in India” by the British Association of Indian Anaesthetists in 2007. He was bestowed with FRCP by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow in 2012.
Prof.Ravishankar has 93 well received publications to his credit. Presently, he is the Director, Centre for E-Learning and Medical Informatics, SBV and has been spearheading the efforts to launch many a novel and innovative academic course/program, subsequent to the guidelines issued by the UGC for online academic programs as well as with reference to the document on National Education Policy 2020.
