[An unique venture in dental rehabilitation of the ageing population in Old Age Homes of Puducherry]
Department of Prosthodontics and Crown & Bridge, Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth, with its initiative conceived by Dr. Manoharan PS called as Project Pallandu-comprehensive dental rehabilitation of the elderly living in old age homes with the team from the department, ably supported by Rotary Club Auro City, Puducherry, conducted a day long dental camp in the dental hospital premises. The free comprehensive camp was conducted for the 16 ageing inmates and 4 volunteers of Mahatma Gandhi Old Age Home Lawspet. Extractions, fillings, dentures, cancer screening and scaling was done free of cost on the same day. The entire programme was done under the aegis of the Principal, Indira Gandhi Institute of Dental Sciences, Dr. Aruna Sharma, Rotary Auro City members such as Dr. Sivaraman, President, Dr. Bharath, Treasurer, Dr. Ezhil, Past President, Mr. Ashok – Project Pallandu coordinator and Mahatma Gandhi Old Age Home, Director – Mr. Ramalingam @ Royal. It is noteworthy to mention that under “Project Pallandu” this is the fourth old age home which is benefitted from the Initiative
