As per the instructions from the Deputy Director Public Health cum State Surveillance Officer, IDSP, Puducherry, a surveillance team has been deployed under the effective guidance of Dr. Swathi Pawar (DMS) and Dr.Lokesh (HOD, Department of General Medicine), Dr. Abhijit V Boratne (HOD, Department of Community Medicine) for the border booth surveillance for screening all the passengers entering via road. The medical team comprising of postgraduates along with interns, Medical Social Workers (MSW), and Nursing Staff (NS) were posted at the point of entry form where the passengers from the adjacent districts/states entered Puducherry. The medical team screens the passengers for symptoms of COVID 19. International passengers were line listed and the passengers who had symptoms of COVID 19 were referred to the COVID 19 hospital (IGMC&RI).

Daily reporting was done from the Dept of Community Medicine (via Nodal Officer of MGMCRI) to the Director of Health and IDSP. Google sheets have been filled for the line-listed passengers and sent to the govt as well.
From March 25th, after the implementation of section 144, no vehicles were allowed without the exempted vehicles. After screening the passengers, we advised them to report to the nearest health facility or contact the toll-free helpline number in case they develop any respiratory symptoms/ fever within this period. Details of vehicles that had entered for the medical purpose were also noted down and the google sheets were filled accordingly.
