Certificate course on ePortfolio training and management

The department of Community Medicine organised the Certificate course on “ePortfolio Training and Management”. The course was envisioned to sensitize the participants to the process of implementing e-portfolios as a learning tool in their institutions. ePortfolios are becoming increasingly popular as a strategy to enhance traditional learning and teaching methods, record achievements, collect pieces of evidence to demonstrate the acquisition of competences, the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) or assist individuals with Personal Development Planning (PDP) and Personal Career Development (PCD). However, despite the growing interest in using ePortfolios for different purposes and in a variety of contexts of application, there is a lack of training activities to help individuals and/or organizations to implement and improve (if necessary) their practices with it. With this background as the need of the hour and also to foster ePortfolio initiatives we have developed the “Certificate course on ePortfolio Training and Management”. The course was structured as 3 days of classroom learning along with 16 hours of self-directed learning for ePortfolio creation and assignments completion. The course was organized into seven learning modules with a total workload of 2 credit points. Both the assignment and ePortfolio creation correspond to 16 hours of self-directed learning. There were 19 participants from pre-clinical, para clinical departments of MGMCRI and other institutes who got benefited by a series of lectures, discussion and hands on training by resource persons from various departments of MGMCRI. The participants showed great enthusiasm and participated actively during the interactive sessions, We received positive feedback regarding the course from the participants who found it useful.
