We are happy to inform that the guest lecture and slide seminar organized by the Department of Pathology, MGMCRI, on lesions of the gastrointestinal tract was a great success.
The guest lecture followed by a slide seminar was delivered by Dr. Ezhilvizhi Alavandar MD, Ph.D. (Pathology). She has experience of 34 years in the field of pathology. She has retired as Professor and HOD Pathology, Kilpauk Medical College, Chennai. She is currently Senior Consultant Pathologist, Billrothhospitals, Chennai and also Professor in Department of Pathology, Sri Muthukumaran Medical College, Chennai.
Pathology postgraduate students from Pondicherry and Tamilnadu participated actively and made this a mega event. And this included postgraduate students of MGMCRI, SSSMCRI, IGMCRI, and SMVMCH.
Fifty slides were displayed in our Pathology practical hall from 8 am to 4 pm. Guest lecture and slide seminar started from 11 am in Agasthya hall, first floor, college block. The guest lecture was conducted in the presence of Emeritus Professor, Dr. Narasimhan. Students along with faculties of MGMCRI had an active discussion on the slides. Various lesions of the GIT along with very interesting cases of other systems were discussed. She also shared her experience in the difficulties she faced in diagnosing these cases. There was also a brief session on Digital Pathology. She was felicitated by Dr. S.Sowmya, Professor and Head, Department of Pathology and Dr. Uma Devi, Professor, Department of Pathology. All the postgraduates were enlightened at the end of the session. Post lunch, the postgraduate students were encouraged to see the slides again in Pathology practical hall and faculties were guiding them for all the queries.
