Center for Music Therapy Education and Research, a unit of Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute organized the 2nd International Conference on Music Therapy on “Current Trends in Music Therapy Education, Clinical Practice and Research at the college block Ground floor lecture hall on 23 06 2015.
Dr. Amy Clements-Cortes, President of World Federation of Music Therapy inaugurated the conference online from Ontario, Canada and delivered the Presidential address. Prof. Dr. Vellore A R Srinivasan, Registrar and Organizing Chairman welcomed the gathering.  Hon. Vice Chancellor Prof. KR Sethuraman released the conference proceedings. Dean, Allied Health Sciences Prof. N. Ananthakrishnan presented the felicitation address and released the official bulletin  “THE HARMONY” from Centre for the quarters March 2015. The June issue was released by Dean, Administration Prof M. Ravishankar.  Professor Dr. Gerhard Tucek, Head and Program Director, Department of Music Therapy, IMC University of Applied Sciences, Krems, Austria delivered the key note address on Music Therapy in Neurological Rehabilitation: Evidence-Based Practice and Research. Dr. Sumathy Sundar, Organizing Secretary delivered the Vote of Thanks. The deliberations during the conference proceedings recorded the present levels of evidence for music therapy practice and research and stressed the importance of considering Music Therapy as both a medical and social science integrating medical, psychological and anthropological perspectives. All the delegates thanked and appreciated Center for Music Therapy Education and Research for organizing this unique conference to disseminate scholarly information on evidence, clinical practice and research on music therapy.
