CAP SERIES 10– CHOICE BASED CREDIT SYSTEM & ACADEMIC BANK OF CREDITS Jointly organised by IQAC and IHPE, SBV

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell and the Institute of Health Professions Education of Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth, Puducherry organized a one-day sensitization program on Choice Based Credit System & Academic Bank of Credits for the faculty members and staff of the Office of Registrar and Office of Controller of Examinations. The program was conducted as part of the SBV Capacity Augmentation Program (CAP) series – Quality Orientation Programme on 11.09.2023. Prof. M. Shivasakthy, Director of the Institute of Health Professions Education welcomed the gathering and addressed the purpose of the program. Prof. Carounanidy Usha, Director, Accreditation, and Co-ordinator of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell, addressed the gathering on the importance of aligning the curriculum to the Choice-Based Credit System (CBCS) and uploading the students’ mark list to the Academic Bank of Credits. The program was presided over by Prof. Nihar Ranjan Biswas, honourable Vice-Chancellor of Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth. He motivated the members of the audience to make use of the program for effective implementation of the system in the university. He further thanked the resource persons for their kind acceptance to share their knowledge.

Prof. Dr. S. Kuppuswami, Executive Director, Vivekananda Educational Institutions, Tiruchengode, conducted an in-depth interactive session on why change the curriculum to CBCS, what are its components, and how to implement emphasizing the challenges and the benefits. He also gave an introduction to the Academic Bank of Credits(ABC) in the forenoon Session.

The afternoon session was taken by the government officials Mr Prakash Kumar Pandey, Manager, and Mr Pritam Pradhan, State Coordinator, (Tamil Nadu & Puducherry), NAD-Digilocker & ABC, Digital India Corporation / National e-governance Division, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India. Mr. Prakash Pandey explained the creation of the Digi locker account, its mode of operation, and the details of the services provided under Digi locker. Mr. Pritam Pradhan explained how to create the ABC account and demonstrated online the step-by-step approach of uploading the mark sheets/ transcripts to the Academic Bank of Credits by the University for enabling credit accumulation in the student’s ABC account that will facilitate credit transfer and credit redemption later. The program was extremely resourceful and beneficial to the participants. Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth is one of the pioneering Universities to conduct a formal training program for the faculty on Academic Bank of Credits in collaboration with Digital India Corporation Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India.
