On 30th of January 2020, the Department of Pulmonary Medicine inaugurated “CHRISTIAN GUILLEMINAULT CENTRE FOR SLEEP DIAGNOSIS AND RESEARCH” with state-of-the-art level 1 polysomnography. Honourable Vice Chancellor Subhash Chandra Parija inaugurated the lab and Prof Ravishankar, Dean- Faculty of Medicine, and Prof Nirmal Coumare, Medical Superintendent have also attended the event.
A CME on both Basics and latest topics conducted and Prof.R.Pajanivel, HOD-Pulmonary medicine Prof. H N Mallick Dept of physiology AIIMS, New Delhi Dr Suresh kumar Director-Chennai Epilepsy and sleep disorders center, Dr N Ramakrishnan Director- Nithra institute of sleep sciences Chennai, Dr Vijayakrishnan HOD- snoring and sleep disorders MERF-Chennai and Dr Satish from ResMed delivered talks.
Later, a workshop was conducted which involved live demonstration of DISE (Drug Induced Sleep Endoscopy), NIV therapy and Hooking up for sleep study. Approximately 150 delegates comprising of faculties from various disciplines, postgraduates and Allied Health Science students.
