On 19.06.2019: The V International Yoga Day 2019 celebration started with an Essay competition titled “Yoga in undergraduate curriculum-pros and cons” among UG, PG and AHS students. On 21.06.2016, The International Yoga Day celebration proper started with the Poster presentation, followed by an invocation song, SSSMCRI college anthem, and SBV anthem followed by lighting of the lamp by Dean Prof. P.F. Kotur, Chief Guest Smt. Veda Ramachandran, HOD, Veda Yoga Meditation Academy, old Perungalathur, Chennai-600063, Vice Principal Curriculum Dr. Saurabh Srivastava, Vice Principal student’s affairs Dr. Abhilash, Prof. of OBG Dr. Shivan Kumar, Prof. of Paediatrics Dr. Rajkumar, Prof. of Biochemistry Dr. Balaji Rajagopalan and In-charge Yoga section SSSMCRI Dr. Mani Kathapillai Associate Professor of Anatomy. Welcome speech and introduction of the chief guest was by the Incharge Yoga section SSSMCRI Dr. Mani Kathapillai. He was highlighting the types of yoga practiced and the effect of YOGA in the prevention of Non-Communicavle Diseases. He introduced the Guest speaker Smt. Veda Ramachandran, HOD, Veda Yoga Meditation Academy, followed by the talk of Mr. Aryan Kumar I MBBS then by Dr. Latha, Associate Professor of Physiology. Felicitation of the Chief Guest was done by Dean. Prof. P.F. Kotur, of Dean by Dr. Mani Kathapillai and all other dignitaries were felicitated with a bouquet and a shawl. In her Address by the Chief Guest correlated Yoga in terms of practical implication. Essay competition prizes and Poster competition were distributed by Smt. Veda Ramachandran and The Dean SSSMCRI. Presidential address by our Dean Sir highlighted the uniqueness of the day i.e. 21st of June being the longest day in terms of its duration. Dr. Mani Kathapillai demonstrated Yoga Asana with his team of four II MBBS students, 11 YOGASANAS including SAVASANA. Dr. Umamaheswari gave a vote of thanks. The V International Yoga Day 2019 ended successfully with the National Anthem.
