Music Therapy for Coping, Stress & Health – A Salutogenic Focus

Center for Music Therapy Education and Research(CMTER), Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth, Pondicherry, conducted the first online National Faculty Development Program on Music therapy from 27-06-2020(Wednesday) to 29-06-2020(Friday) titled “ Music Therapy for Stress, coping & Health – A Salutogenic focus” as part of the National Faculty Development program of Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth, conceived by our Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Subhash Chandra Parija and  in association with Center for Health Professions Education, Pondicherry for the year 2019-2020

 The National FDP was organized by Ms Bhuvaneswari Ramesh, the FDP Coordinator, CMTER, SBV. and comprised of expert National resource persons with years of academic knowledge, research and experience.  The program had the presence of the Director of CYTER who has decades of experience on Yoga and concepts of Music as well, Resource persons from Dept of physiology Dr. S Krishnan, Assistant Professor, MGMCRI; Dr Baishali Mukherjee, A research Associate with Chennai School of Music therapy and a practising music therapist & Ashish B Kasbe, Senior Music Therapist at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, Mumbai. The Program also had practising Music therapists from various states of the country such as Mumbai, Hyderabad and Chennai.

  The experiential sessions were conducted by Prof. Ananda Balayogi Bhavanani, Director, CYTER, SBV; Vikram Kannan, a Music therapist from Chennai, Dr. Anasuya Ravikanti, a Music Therapist and founder of Swarajeeni Center for Music therapy, Hyderabad.

 The National FDP was well received by the registered participants who were left asking for more.  The Participants were Faculty of SBV (IGIDS, SSSMCRI), teachers from schools, Faculty from the institute of psychological studies.

The feedback received was positive with the interest to attend more of such events and adding varied topics we could use for the future.
