NATIONAL CONFERENCE ON TRANSFORMATION OF MENTAL HEALTH CARE: INTEGRATION OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN PSYCHIATRIC NURSING

A national level conference titled “Transformation of mental health care: Integration of artificial intelligence in psychiatric nursing”, was held on 20 March 2024, organized by Shri Sathya Sai College of Nursing. The program was held in hybrid mode and 5 TNNMC credit hours were awarded.
The inaugural ceremony was commenced at 9:00 am, featuring a welcome address by Prof.A.L.Mahalakshmi Vice Principal, SSSCON followed the traditional lamp lighting by the dignitaries, Prof.Dr.Helen Shaji J C, Principal, Organizing Chairperson of the conference, unfolded the theme of the conference. Chief Guest, Dr. Subash Indra Kumar C L, HOD of Mental Health Nursing, N.S Memorial College of Nursing, Kollam, Kerala. The presidential address was delivered by Prof. Nihar Ranjan Biswas, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth (DU), Puducherry. The vote of thanks was proposed by Prof. Anand S, HOD of Mental Health Nursing, SSSCON and Organizing Secretary of the conference. The first session was titled “Introduction to AI in health care, current landscape of psychiatric nursing” presented by Prof. Vithoba N, Gazetted Group A Officer, Institute of Psychiatry and Human Behaviour, Goa. The second session was on “Applications of AI in psychiatric nursing, AI assisted therapy and privacy concerns” presented by Dr.Subash Indra Kumar C L , HOD of Mental Health Nursing, N.S Memorial College of Nursing, Kollam, Kerala. The third session was on “IoT/ wearable sensing system for mental health” which was presented by Dr. Anusa Arunachalam Mohandoss, Professor, Department of Psychiatry, SSSMCRI. The fourth session was on “Collaboration between technology and human being” which was presented Dr. Kalamegam Gauthaman, General Physician and Chief of Academy, RMD Pain and Palliative Care Trust, Chennai. The fifth session titled “Ethical consideration and privacy concern in artificial intelligence for psychiatric nurses, training and education in AI for psychiatric nurses” which was presented by Dr.Fabiola Mercy Dhanaraj, Principal, Meenakshi College of Nursing, Mangadu, Chennai. Quick Quiz was conducted after every session and prizes were distributed for the winners. In the valedictory session, the conference report was presented by the Organizing Secretary, Prof. Anand S, followed by the observer from TNNMC Mrs.E.Varalakshmi, presented the observers report. Delegate representatives from other institutions and states gave positive feedback about the conference after which the certificates and mementos were distributed. The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Sujatha T, Professor and HOD of Department of Community Health Nursing, SSSCON. Totally 402 participants attended this conference, from 52 institutions and 13 states and the program concluded by 4:30 pm.
