 As a part of World Cancer awareness day celebration, a health education session was conducted for 30 participants (General population from Sembakkam village) using flip books prepared exclusively for this purpose by medical interns under the supervision of Medical Officer, PG and AP in-charges of RHTC. Health education session mainly concentrated on creating awareness about breast cancer (necessity of breast cancer screening, available screening methods, how to do Self breast examination). The program started with a Welcome address by Dr.Elavarasi, Medical Officer. Introduction about Breast cancer and Unfolding the theme – “Close the care gap and the call to unite our voices and take action” talk was given by Dr.Nishanth CRRI. Risk factors, sign and symptoms of Breast cancer were explained by Dr.Ishwarya, PG. Diagnostic and screening methods were explained by Dr.Nithyananda CRRI. Self breast examination techniques were demonstrated by Dr.Pooja CRRI. Information about treatment and preventive measures of Breast cancer was provided by Dr.lshwarya. Detailed summary about Breast cancer and vote of thanks was given by Dr.Sindhuri, Assistant professor, Community Medicine Department, SSSMCRI. Various queries raised by the participants were clarified. The session was conducted following social distancing norms and personal protective measures and ended with providing refreshments for the participants.
