On the occasion of World Zoonoses Day – 2023, July 6, 2023, MGM Advanced Research Institute has organized a poster competition for the students of SBV constituent institutions. The theme of the competition was “PREPAREDNESS FOR FUTURE EPIDEMIC/PANDEMIC LESSONS LEARNT FROM COVID-19”.
Students’ posters were evaluated by external and internal Judges from different disciplines viz., Prof. Joshy M Easow, Head of Microbiology, MGMCRI, and Dr. Pratheesh, Professor of Neurosurgery, MGMCRI. Dr Aruna Sharma, Principal, Indira Gandhi Institute of Dental Sciences, Dr Manoharan, P.S, Professor & Head, Dept of Prosthodontics, Indira Gandhi Institute of Dental Sciences, Dr Dhamodharan R, Assistant Professor, MGMARI, Dr Veni Subramanyam, Assistant Professor, MGMARI and Dr Sudipta Bhowmik, Assistant Professor, MGMARI.
The students enthusiastically participated with their creative and diverse ideas. A total of 82 posters were presented by UG, PG and PhD Students of Medical, Dental, Nursing, Pharmacy and Allied Health Sciences. The students were divided into 3 batches from which our judges shortlisted 12 posters. A final list of 3 best prize winners was selected by two eminent Judges, Dr S R Rao, Vice President, SBV and Dr K S Reddy, Dean Research, SBV.
On the same day, an invited online talk was delivered by Prof. Kay van der Host, Managing Director, Pandemic Prevention Institute, The Rockefeller Foundation, USA, Co-founder, Global Alliance for Pandemic Preparedness & Response (APAR) “Climate Change Accelerated Zoonotic Disease & Next Generation Outbreak Early Warning Systems”.
The program culminated with the distribution of the cash prizes for the first, second and third prize winners of Rs. 5000/-, Rs. 3000/- and Rs. 2000/- respectively by our Dr S. R. Rao, Vice President, SBV and Dr K. S. Reddy, Dean Research, SBV. All the participants were awarded participation certificates for the poster competition. The whole event was organized with the efforts of Dr Agiesh Kumar, Associate Professor, MGMARI, and Dr Pradeep J, Assistant Professor, MGMARI, PhD. Scholars, MGMARI and supporting non-teaching staff.
