 
CMTER as a nodal center for music therapy training, research and clinical practice in the country offers hospital-based internship training to music therapy students pursuing both the short term (one year) Post-Graduate Diploma and the two year Master’s degree programs in Music Therapy. The formal training is offered in two levels. One is foundational and the other one being advanced, catering to the needs of both the young professionals and those who seek advanced clinical training. Throughout the internship period, the students work in an interdisciplinary team with the medical professionals in Mahatma Gandhi Medical College attached hospital housed in the SBV campus.
CMTER as a nodal center for music therapy launched its first National music therapy internship program from 1.2. 2017 to 3.2.2017 at CMTER premises in I block, Ifloor. The program began with induction training for three days with resource persons Prof. Vellore A R Srinivasan, Registrar, SBV, Dr.SumathySundar, Director, CMTER, Dr. Swati Pawar, Deputy Medical Superintendent of MGMCRI, Prof. B Sivaprakash, Department of Psychiatry, Prof. B Amritha Ganesh, Department of Cardiology andProf. S. Ambujam, Department of Dermatology and Associate Professor Dr.ShobanaJaiganesh, Department of Physiology addressing the gathering and also presenting their guest lectures for the students.
