9th International Day of Yoga – 2023

International Yoga Day is observed every year on June 21 to raise awareness about this ancient practice and to celebrate the physical and Mental, emotional, spiritual prowess that yoga has
brought to the world. Yoga is a practice which plays an important role in relaxing the mind and body and boosting people’s immune system. Today, on 21st June 2023, Shri Sathya Sai Medical
College and Research Institute, Ammapettai, Nellikuppam. Chengalpattu District- 603 108, Tamilnadu, celebrated 9 th  International Yoga Day. It was attended by Dr. Sukumaran Annamalai
and many prominent Professors, Administrative staffs and Students from SSSMCRI of the Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth University with great enthusiasm.
The event began with Tamil Thai valthu and yoga prayer song with brief introduction and welcome address Yoga Day by Dr. L. Manivannan Director of Physical Education and Yoga by
welcoming the Chief guest Dr. Sukumaran Annamalai, Dean, and Guest of Honor Dr. Syed Ali Professor and HOD of Ophthalmology in SSSMCRI and Dr. Gomathi Associate Professor of
Pathology and all the participants of staff and the students. The yoga Warm up exercises was taken and all the students practiced & performed sitting and standing Asanas, importance of
these were explained simultaneously. The celebration concluded with the speech of Dr. Sukumaran Annamalai, Dean he encouraged students to practice regular yoga to remain fit and
improve concentration.
Dr. Syed Ali professor and HOD of Ophthalmology in SSSMCRI and Dr. Gomathi Associate Professor of Pathology for both to addressed the participants on the importance of yoga practice
in our life. All Faculties, Staff and children were taught the importance of Yoga in their life & how to maintain the harmony between body and mind. The students discussed the importance of yoga and also exhibited yoga postures and promised to introduce this activity in their daily lives. International Yoga Day celebrations ended with a huge success under the supervision of the Department of Physical Education Yoga staffs. The function ended with a vote of thanks by Mr. Raghav Rajauria, Yoga Therapist of SSSMCRI. After the International day of yoga programme all the participants of students and staff members gathered on the stage for a photograph. This is the way we celebrate International Day of yoga at our college.
