Short Film Contest – Crime Scene Investigation

The Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology of Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute, Puducherry wanted to conduct a unique event that involves students to bring out their hidden talents. The department chose multimedia as the resource, as it is an easy reach among the students and to the community. The event to be conducted was decided to be a Short film Competition. To out bring the Sherlock Holmes of the Institutions, the theme was dedicated to “Crime Scene Investigation”. A set of rules were framed by the Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology by Dr. Joe David Anton, Assistant Professor and AV Club Coordinator, along with Mr.Sabareesh and Ms. Varsha priya Secretaries of AV Club of Students Council. The rules and regulation for the event were incorporated in the invitation and was sent across the state. A total of 23 teams registered for the event. These 23 short films were sent to the scrutinising committee comprised of experts in the field. Out of the 23 teams & best short films were selected and the final list was shared in the whatsapp group created for the participants. The day of event was fixed on July 12 2022 from 2pm and the selected participants were called in person. The event was inaugurated by the Prof. Seethesh Ghose Dean, MGMCRI and Prof. Satish Kumar, Head of department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology. Experts in the field of Media and Forensic Medicine were invited as Judges. Total of 4 Judges were invited. One in the field of Music Mr. Dev, One in Photography Mr. Jagan, One in Lyrics Mr. Rajendran and One Forensic Expert Prof. Sunil Subramanyam. On July 12 2022, the event took place with a total of 7 short films, which were asked initially to be shared by the participants via YouTube link and the same was telecasted on the screen. At the end of each film, the teams were called upon the stage to share their experience while doing the short film. The expert Judges gave both positive and negative professional comments for each team, so that they could improve themselves in the future. At the end of the Show cast, the best 3 out of the 7 teams were unanimously selected by the Judges and the prize award was given by the Prof. Satish Kumar, Head of department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology to the winners.
